Photo shoot with Aurélia Cerquozzi
So the idea of photographing a fighter had been in the back of my mind for quite some time. It was one evening while doing situps at the gym that I noticed Bryson. He definitely looked like he knew what he was doing when he threw punches and kicks into the punching bag and after watching him do a few crazy high kicks in the air photos started rolling around in my mind. I approached him and let him knew I was a photographer and interested in working with him. One of his friends standing by heard me and they handed me their iphone and said “check this out, he is great with nunchucks”. After being blown away by the video I knew I wanted to work with Bryson and when I pitched him the idea of the photo shoot he was in! Bryson told me he use to fight competitively back in China but he just does it for fun now that he is here in Canada studying.
The photo shoot wouldn’t have happened if it was just me so thank you to all my help that made the shoot come together. Thank you Kelsey Bell for doing the extreme makeup job that she did creating cuts and bruises on Bryson’s face as well a filming some of that footage. Thank you to Shawna Wajzer for being a super awesome assistant and helping with lighting and vehicle. And finally thanks to Bryson Ye for being my model and spending a long day shooting outside in the cold!
